This is an extension of the El Fayal
loop, which adds about 40 minutes and 150m extra altitude, which makes for more
expansive panoramic views.
On Google, the reservoir looks nearly
empty, but with pipes supplying it from somewhere higher up, and the rain that
we have been having, it is full.
There are various branching trails, with one of them a grueling 13km hike to Roque de Los Muchachos – will not be doing that one on foot.
The reservoir looks to be fairly modern,
with connecting piping flanges made of stainless steel – maybe 15 to 20 years
old at most.
Panoramic view heading back down towards Puntagorda and the Atlantic ocean.
