Friday, April 7th, was a sea day as the
Ship sailed between Melbourne and Sydney.
A quiet day on the Ship. For dinner, potato soup, prime rib, delicious
baked Alaska and a Grolsch beer.
On Saturday, in Sydney, the Dining room opened for
breakfast at 7 instead of 8, and we were ashore by 8:30.
First, we walked over to the Opera House – about 10
minutes – we were one of the first in line
but found out that the 9 o’clock tour was already full. We asked how, and found out that they had booked the time online
– We booked through Viator but then had to pick up tickets there - waited till
9:30 ($28.55 US) but an impressive gift shop. The opera house is a spectacular building, and you will learn lots about the history. But be prepared - lots of stairs, and no elevators or escalators.
Then on the Hop On/off bus booked through Viator ($30.85 US) to Bondi Beach, where we had lunch in a restaurant right on the beach. Again, very impressive - lots of young people.
On our way back to the ship on the Hop On/Off Bus, we toured the magnificent St. Mary's Cathedral. I would certainly recommend all 3 places.
For dinner, chicken soup, Barramundi with coconut/lemongrass reduction, and for dessert, key lime pie and lemon sorbet, also a vodka martini. A busy day touring around Sydney....
