Prior to arriving, I had planned a few different bike routes, some quite long.
It turned out that the main, costal route is very busy and narrow, so too dangerous for biking regularly (less traffic on weekends, but still…).
The route is also extremely hilly, as are some of the side roads. I tried one, early after arriving, and ended up having to walk up one of the short, steep hills (have not done that since I do not know when).
I looked at the terrain on a Bike route planning app, but figured the very steep stuff would actually be road-cuts, as is typically the case elsewhere.
Not so – they just build the roads right over whatever the terrain does (the main road does have switch backs).
