Vancouver to Japan cruise/Trafalgar tour - #16 - September 26 to October 23/2017...

Saturday, October 21st, after breakfast, we left the hotel at 8:15 to take the Express train to Kyoto.  The train tickets were included in the tour, and we all sat together.  This train takes two hours to Kyoto, and was travelling about 120 kms/hour - our luggage is coming in a separate truck.  Then from the train station on to the bus - it was raining hard, and was about noon.

Then we went to Kinkakuji Temple, an UNESCO temple, also known as the Golden Palace.  You just take pictures outside - the pathway makes a circle, and you come down steep stairs at the end.  We did not continue on the pathway after taking pictures, instead came back the same way as we went in.

Then to a traditional Japanese lunch in a B&B - a beautiful, old building, but you do have to take your shoes off.  A very pleasant lunch.....it was still raining out, so after lunch, they drove us back to the bus.

After that, to the hotel -  Nikko Princess Kyoto.  Very nice rooms with an excellent bathroom....

For dinner, we went to McDonalds (about 4 blocks) - tastes like home and just about the same price.  All the tables were upstairs, so be sure and ask for ketchup, otherwise you will be up those stairs twice .  We then walked back to the hotel - still raining hard out.
