A French couple were also on the ride from the
airport – they are staying in the same apart-hotel, on the same floor (opposite
my door actually).
Tarrafal has an over-abundance of grocery shops,
with two main supermarkets – including one that carries everything from groceries
to appliances, clothing and shoes, home building hardware, bicycles, and I think
I even saw some engine parts.
The local fish cannery - they sponsor sports
activities, including bike racing.
The
main industries are the fish cannery and tourism – including the ferry boat
that runs between Praia, Tarrafal and Mindelo.
Looking
west, these are two smaller islands between here and Sao Vicente /Santo Antao.
